Hidayat Hussain Khan (born 1975)a sitar virtuoso, classical singer is the son of the legend Ustad Vilayat Khan

Hidayat Hussain Khan comes from one of the greatest family of musicians. His forefathers have been the leaders and innovators of Classical Indian music. His great grandfather, Ustad Imdad Khan, co-developed the Surbahar" (bass Sitar). His grandfather, Ustad Enayat Khan was the foremost sitar player of his time. His father, Ustad Vilayat Khan (1928-2004), is attributed with many innovations and contributions, in the instrument as well as the playing of it. One of the highlights of Hidayat's performance is the melodic movements that completely replicates the human voice in the famous "gayaki ang", a trademark of their gharana. His sitar performance when accompanied by his mesmerizing voice transports the audience to a whimsical, ethereal, sensual and spiritual journey. Hidayat began his formal training of Indian classical vocal music from his legendary father Ustad Vilayat Khan at the age of 4 and continued it until he was 14, after which his father initiated him formally into sitar. He was a child prodigy giving his first public performance at the age of 9.

Accomplishments He has performed throughout Asia, Europe, Far East, and North America playing at prestigious venues as Royal Festival Hall in London, Carnegie Hall in New York, Lincoln center in New York, Sackler Gallery, Smithsonian Institute in Washington, DC, San Giorgio Music foundation, Venice in Italy. He has performed with Darryl Jones of Rolling Stones, collaborated with Miles Davis Jazz group and performed at Cité de la Musique in Paris, Budapest Music festival in Sziget and Montreal jazz festival in Canada. He has taken part in musical compositions for films, worldwide, including, Mira Nair's Kama Sutra. He has done a background track for Discovery channel program on tigers called "Tracking a Legend". Besides his classical albums, his new cross over albums, Ziver and Sanwariya have been critically acclaimed with Ziver rated #1 in MTV and Billboard charts.  He has been a visiting professor at Princeton University, NJ.
